About this workshop

  • What is conversation repair?

    Miscommunication or misunderstandings inevitably happen during a conversation; however, these situations can be devastating to a language learner who isn't prepared to handle them. Having well-practiced words, phrases, and strategies for dealing with a breakdown in communication provide learners with confidence to handle those difficulties effectively.

    This workshop provides techniques, activities, and phrases that you can use with learners of all ages and levels to help them master the fundamentals of conversation repair.

  • No Prerequisites!

    This workshop is open to anyone who teaches English language learners. You do not have to any previous Color Vowel® training to attend.

  • 3 Sessions to Choose From

    The Teaching Fundamentals of Conversation Repair workshop will be repeated three times during November. We've scheduled morning, afternoon, and evening sessions so there's sure to be a time that's convenient for your schedule. When you purchase this workshop, you can attend just once or all 3 times. All sessions will be held live in Zoom.

Your instructor

Karen Taylor

Director, ELTS

Karen Taylor co-founded ELTS in 2011 in response to a popular demand for the Color Vowel® Chart, a teaching tool she created in 1999. She holds an MA in TESOL from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey and a BA in English Literature from Georgetown University, as well as an International Baccalaureate from the United World College (US campus). A former Fulbright TEFL Specialist, Karen was the Practitioner in Residence at American University for nine years. She received Ed Tech’s 2020 Visionary Leader award for her work as Head of Education at Blue Canoe Learning Inc.
