About this course

Discover how Readers Theater brings the written word to life while supporting English learner comprehensibility and speaking confidence.

  • Workshop Overview

Readers Theater is a group read-aloud in which individuals perform level-appropriate scripts to tell a story cooperatively. Participants will learn how Readers Theater supports development of the learner’s external reading voice (rate, vocabulary, and pronunciation/ comprehensibility) as well as their “internal” reading voice (the voice they “hear” when reading silently), thereby strengthening both oral fluency and reading fluency.

  • Prerequisites

This Level 2 course is open to Color Vowel® Level 1 Trained Teachers or teachers taking a Color Vowel® Level 1 Practicum course currently or synchronously.

Prior completion of the Level 2 Core Rhythm and Chants course is recommended but not required.

  • Certificate

Upon completion of this course, participants will receive a course completion certificate reflecting 6 hours of instruction. This course fulfills one of multiple requirements of Level 2 certification.
